About Red Bishop Self-Catering Guesthouse
Red Bishop Self-Catering Guesthouse was built with great care on a truly special plot in Langebaan, set alongside a small wetland where numerous birds gather and nest. The name “Red Bishop” came naturally from the hundreds of African Red Bishop birds that return each spring, filling the area with colour and life. The guesthouse was originally built by the owners, who were closely involved in every aspect of the project. Much of the construction was hands-on, and this personal approach is still visible today in the thoughtful design details. Guests often comment on the distinctive finishes, including reclaimed timber in the exposed roof structure, German schmeer white cement finishes inside and out, and exposed copper piping. These rustic elements are carefully balanced with comfortable, high-quality furnishings and memory-foam mattresses to ensure a relaxed and memorable stay. While the original owners no longer own the property, Red Bishop continues to be lovingly managed with the same attention to detail and care. The guesthouse is managed close by, allowing guests to enjoy privacy and independence, while knowing that assistance is always nearby if needed. A contactless check-in is offered for convenience, with support available throughout your stay. Ideally located in Langebaan’s Middedorp area, Red Bishop is within easy walking distance of the beach, local coffee shops, restaurants, and shops. Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac with secure fencing and a motorised gate, the property offers a peaceful and safe environment for guests. Whether you are visiting Langebaan for a beach break, kite surfing, or exploring the famous West Coast flowers in spring, Red Bishop offers a comfortable, well-located, and welcoming place to stay.
